Vietnam’s railways start to modernise
The Hanoi Railway Corporation will reduce costs North to South train tickets by up to 15 percent this summer to attract more travelers for long distance train journeys.
"Do you remember the old train station out here?" I ask Thanh, my neighbour and xe om driver. We are at the intersection of Pham Ngu Lao and Nguyen Thai Hoc. His face lights up with memory.
"It was here," he says pointing to the park either side of Nguyen Thai Hoc. "And it used to stretch all the way to Ben Thanh Market. It was huge. Really huge. I remember it."
