Augmented Reality Exhibition Opens in Danang

Written by

An exhibition showcasing augmented reality art, the first of its kind in Vietnam, and one of the first in Asia, is presently running at My Casa in Danang.

Based on work from an ambitious new art book, Prosthetic Reality, a book which brings together the work of 45 artists to create a collection of art that experiments with what's possible in mixed reality art, the images on display have been brought to Vietnam on license by Chris McBride. Born in the UK and based in Danang, McBride is one of the artists and animators featured in the book. The images are quite stunning.

Using smartphone technology and an app developed in Australia called Eyejack, augmented reality art brings still images to life with the help of video. First an illustration, photograph, painting or mural is created, together with either a 2D or 3D animation. The animation and still image are then uploaded to Eyejack, which pairs the two pieces of art, allowing the user to view the animation working on top of the still image. Sound can then be added to the final images.

The artwork is presently on display at My Casa in Danang and will be showcased until Saturday, Sep. 30. My Casa is at 52 Vo Nghia, Danang or online at mycasa-danang.com.
