Carpe Diem all you Carps!

There is an ancient Vietnamese legend of a little carp that somehow, in some way became a dragon. A long time ago, so the story goes, Heaven ran out of dragons to serve the Jade Emperor, the Vietnamese god of everything. He needed some new ones, so he organised a contest for all the aquatic animals — whichever species hurdled the ‘three gates of rain’ would become the new dragon. The lowly carp bravely did so, and the rest, as they say, is history.
