A long time ago, so the story goes, Heaven ran out of dragons to serve the Jade Emperor, the Vietnamese god of everything. He needed some new ones, so he organised a contest for all the aquatic animals — whichever species hurdled the ‘three gates of rain’ would become the new dragon. The lowly carp bravely did so, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Well-known mixed expat and local band Bad Neighbor is set to rock the stage with their funk rock, Latin and soul music on Saturday Feb. 23 at McSorley’s.

Saigon Outcast is set to welcome artists and DJs as part of their Art Festival, The Melting Pot, from Saturday Mar. 2 to Sunday Mar. 3.
