Think Fit, Win Big!
Our challenge will run for nine weeks. The goal is to physically transform your body through any fitness and nutrition programme appropriate for your body type. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and it will be based on ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos, weight loss and stat improvements. We are working with one of the city’s top medical and fitness centres to provide a bit more of a scientific emphasis to proceedings, and measurements will be taken at both the beginning and the end of the challenge.
Any adult over 16 years old is eligible regardless of age, weight, height, shape or look. The challenge begins on May 9 and you must be available on that day to come into our studio to take the ‘before’ photo and for a certified specialist to record your measurements. The challenge will end on Jul. 11 when an ‘after’ photo will be taken and your final measurements will be recorded and judged. Information on the time and location of these photography sessions and checks will be provided once you are chosen.
Send an email with your full name, phone number, a full body shot of yourself in a bikini / swimming trunks with a newspaper showing the date and the reason why you should be chosen for the challenge to email@example.com by no later than Apr. 15, 2011. Alternatively, you can drop off the photo and letter in a sealed envelope, addressed to Christine, at our office on 54/26 Nguyen Cu Trinh, Q1 or register online at www.wordhcmc.com/insider/160-general/1829-fitness-challenge.
We will then choose the contestants to take part in the challenge. Chosen contestants will be notified by Apr. 20.
Once chosen, you can enlist the help of a personal trainer, motivator or go at it solo. The decision on how you want to approach it is yours and we are also willing to help you find the right person. However, you are entirely responsible for hiring the services of a personal trainer, gym membership or any fees that come with the challenge.
Soham Yoga Studio & Boutique (www.soham.vn) will support one contestant during his/her nine-week programme with an unlimited membership at their classes during this period. Selection of the contestant will be chosen by The Word Ho Chi Minh City and Soham. In addition, Seara Sports (227 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Q3) will provide discounted nutritional supplements to all taking part.
You can follow any exercise regime you like. You can also eat what you want and make any changes to your diet you deem necessary. This challenge is about you getting into shape, so choose something that works for you.

Record your transformation as you go along. Note changes in diet, mood, lifestyle and anything else you think is of importance. We may ask you to write a personal account of your experiences. The winner will be announced in our August issue.

Tips for Taking the Submission Photo
– For males, form fitting shorts are best.
– For females, two-piece bathing suits are best. Do not cover your legs with long shorts or ‘cut’ them out of the photo. Try to fill the whole photograph with your body, if you stand too far away, it may be hard to see.
– If you plan to email the photo, make sure the resolution is a minimum of 300dpi and that the image is at least 15cm wide.
